Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 Will Require an Internet Connection for All Game Modes

Activision has revealed that the next Call of Duty game, Call of Duty: Black Ops 6, will need an active internet connection for every game mode, including the single-player campaign. The company revealed the online only requirement in a recent post about the game’s different editions that will be available.

“To deliver the highest-quality visuals while also reducing the game’s overall storage space on your hard drive, Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 will use texture streaming across all game modes,” wrote the company in FAQ about the game. “This means you’ll need a continuous Internet connection to play any game mode, including Campaign. If you’re on a console, Campaign can be played without a premium subscription service such as Game Pass Core or PlayStation Plus.”

The company has also revealed in the same FAQ that split-screen multiplayer will be available for the PS5 and Xbox Series X/S versions of Call of Duty: Black Ops 6. The PS4 and Xbox One versions, on the other hand, won’t have split-screen multiplayer because of performance concerns.

Recently, the game got a trailer at the Xbox Games Showcase showcasing its campaign, which will make use of the Gulf War as its primary setting. Details about the game’s campaign were also revealed along with the announcement of its release date and a deep dive into its offerings.

Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 is coming to PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S on October 25. It will also be available via Game Pass.
