Dragon Quest 3 HD-2D Remake Features Graphical Modes, 3 Difficulty Settings

Square Enix’s Dragon Quest 3 HD-2D Remake finally received a release date during the latest Nintendo Direct. Some previews have also become available in Japan, confirming graphical modes on consoles and multiple difficulty options.

According to Game*Spark (translation by Automaton-Media), the PS5 version will have a Graphics Mode and Performance Mode. The latter prioritizes frame rate, which means the former is the de facto Quality or Resolution Mode. Though only PS5 is named, the option should also be available on Xbox Series X/S (with PC also likely supporting up to 4K resolution and higher frame rates).

The difficulty settings include Dracky Quest, Dragon Quest and Draconian Quest. The lowest sees players dealing more damage, while bosses don’t automatically regenerate health. However, the most challenging mode features bosses with higher HP pools. It also doles out less XP and gold. On the bright side, you can save almost any time, though auto-save is also available.

The preview also confirms features from Dragon Quest 6, like Recall, a Skill for memorizing NPC conversations and going through them again later. Though it is available in the original Dragon Quest 3, the Skill is exclusive to the Super Famicom and Game Boy Color versions. The remake also offers guides for quests and speed modifiers for combat and exploration.

Dragon Quest 3 HD-2D Remake launches on November 14th for Xbox Series X/S, PS5, PC and Nintendo Switch.
