Dragon Age: The Veilguard’s long-awaited release is right around the corner, which means the next Mass Effect is soon going to become developer BioWare’s next main project. The sci-fi RPG is, of course, still presumably quite a ways off, which means there’s much that we aren’t going to know about it for some time to come. One thing that the project’s lead has confirmed, however, that visually, the game is going to differ from the upcoming Dragon Age in one key way.
Responding to a fan on Twitter, in addition to expressing his disagreement over Dragon Age: The Veilguard’s art style being likened to Pixar, Michael Gamble – Project Director on the next Mass Effect – stated that the sci-fi RPG’s next instalment is going to feature a photorealistic aesthetic similar to its predecessors, rather than the stylized look of The Veilguard.
“Mass Effect is photorealistic and will be as long as I’m running it,” Gamble wrote.
Little is know about the next Mass Effect, other than the fact that BioWare is currently in the early stages of developing it, and is using Unreal Engine 5 to build the game. Series fans are hopeful that the upcoming N7 Day – i.e. November 7 – will bring more reveals from BioWare, just as last year’s N7 Day did with a brief teaser trailer. Stay tuned for more updates in the coming days and weeks.
Leaks have claimed that the next Mass Effect game might not launch until as late as 2029. Read more on that through here.
I'm not sure I agree with the Pixar thing, but Mass Effect is photorealistic and will be as long as i'm running it.— Michael Gamble (@GambleMike) October 28, 2024
